Carbon Harvest Mission

Carbon Harvest Energy’s mission is to build sustainable food growing and renewable energy systems that efficiently recycle and repurpose wasted resources. Through smart integration of inputs and outputs, these systems provide better local food and energy security while yielding higher profits, better environmental outcomes and community economic development.

As a company, we measure our success by our ability to:

  • Use available, otherwise wasted resources to create renewable energy
  • Increase local food and energy security by growing food year-round in greenhouses using recovered heat from energy generation systems, offsetting the use of fossil fuels
  • Be a model for linking local energy and food production in a manner that enhances both and helps build a more sustainable food system
  • Design each project for highest and best use of all resources by maximizing system integrations of inputs and outputs of energy, nutrients, feedstocks and products
  • Produce high quality, organic and fair food at an affordable price
  • Donate a percentage of food produced to disadvantaged communities and populations
  • Research and develop biological solutions to pollution management, biodiesel production, and sustainable animal feed and nutraceutical products using state-of-the-art algae culturing techniques and systems
  • Build projects that have lasting value for our host communities
  • Build collaborative relationships with businesses and community stakeholders for our shared benefits
  • Achieve the lightest environmental footprint in terms of all resource use, reuse and recycling
  • Move towards carbon negative business model
  • Create green jobs and pay living wages to all employees
  • Adopt the triple bottom line business model, and continually reassess our progress towards these goals
